GrantSift is live: find grants and funders for your business
GrantSift is live. Search government grants and funders across the US and Canada, built from official sources, with deadlines and funder contacts.
Today we are launching GrantSift, a grants and funder database for businesses, nonprofits, researchers and students in the United States and Canada. If you have ever lost an afternoon clicking through government websites trying to work out which programs you could actually apply for, GrantSift was built for you.
The problem we kept running into
Public funding is real and useful. Governments in both countries run programs for research, hiring, exporting, agriculture, the arts, community projects and much more. The problem is not a lack of programs. The problem is finding the right ones.
Funding information is spread across hundreds of websites. Federal opportunities in the US are posted on Grants.gov, but agencies also publish details on their own pages. In Canada, programs live across federal departments, regional development agencies, provincial ministries and arm's-length funders. Each source uses its own terms, layouts and eligibility language. Deadlines are buried in PDFs. Contacts are hard to find.
The result is that the organizations that most need funding, small teams without a dedicated grants person, are the ones least able to find it. Larger organizations hire consultants. Everyone else searches, guesses and often gives up.
What GrantSift does
GrantSift brings funding opportunities from official sources into one searchable place and organizes them so you can quickly see what fits.
Official sources first. We build our listings from official public sources, such as Grants.gov in the US and Government of Canada open data, and we link every listing back to the official page. You always verify the final details with the funder, and you always know where the information came from.
US and Canada, every sector. Search across both countries and across sectors including business, technology, research, agriculture, arts, health, environment, education, community, Indigenous programs and more.
Search the way you think. Browse by sector, region, funder type, award size or deadline month. Start broad and narrow down.
Funders, not just programs. Our funder directory helps you understand who funds what, so you can plan relationships, not just one-off applications.
Deadlines you can plan around. Funding is a calendar game. GrantSift surfaces deadlines so you can plan your year instead of scrambling.
Free tools. Our tools include a grant budget calculator, cost share calculator, burn rate and runway calculator, deadline calendar, eligibility checklist, proposal outline generator, letter of support template and grant glossary.
Who GrantSift is for
- Small businesses and startups looking for innovation, hiring, export and regional development programs.
- Nonprofits and charities looking for government and foundation support.
- Researchers looking for research funding across agencies.
- Farmers, artists, community groups and Indigenous organizations looking for programs in their sector.
- Students looking for official student aid and scholarship information.
- Grant writers and consultants who research funding for clients every week.
What GrantSift is not
We want to be clear about this, because the grants space has too many misleading promises.
- We are not a funder. We do not award grants.
- We do not guarantee funding. No honest service can. Funders decide.
- We do not replace the official notice. Always read the official program page and guide before applying. We link you there.
- We will never ask you to pay a fee to receive a grant. If anyone does, it is a red flag. Read our guide to avoiding government grant scams.
How to get the most out of GrantSift
- Define your project. Funders fund specific projects. Write a short description of what you want to do, what it costs and when.
- Search by sector and region. Start with the categories that describe you, then refine.
- Shortlist by fit. Read eligibility first. A program you clearly qualify for beats a bigger one you barely fit.
- Check the official page. Confirm eligibility, deadlines and requirements on the funder's site.
- Plan your calendar. Put deadlines and internal milestones on a calendar, including registration steps such as SAM.gov in the US.
- Apply, track, learn. Keep a record of what you applied for and what you learned.
Learn as you go
Alongside the database, we publish practical guides on the GrantSift blog. Good places to start:
- Grants vs loans vs tax credits
- How to read a funding notice
- How to write a grant budget
- How to write a grant application
- Plan your grant calendar
Why paid plans
Building and maintaining a clean, current funding database takes ongoing work: collecting from official sources, normalizing formats, linking back to originals and keeping things up to date. Paid plans let us do that work properly without ads and without selling your data. Plans unlock the full depth of the database, including funder contacts, trackable deadlines and advanced filters. See plans and pricing for current options.
What comes next
This launch is the start. We will keep adding sources, improving search and filters, and publishing guides based on the questions our users ask. If there is a funding source you think we should cover, or a feature that would save you time, we want to hear about it.

How we keep GrantSift trustworthy
A funding database is only useful if you can trust it, so we hold ourselves to a few simple rules.
- Every listing points to its source. We link to the official funder page so you can check eligibility, amounts and deadlines yourself before you apply.
- Official sources first. We build from public sources such as Grants.gov and Government of Canada open data rather than copying third-party lists.
- No promises we cannot keep. We never guarantee that you will receive funding, and we never charge a fee to receive a grant. Funders make their own decisions.
- Plain language. Our guides explain programs in everyday words and link to the official rules for the details.
- Your search stays yours. Searching GrantSift does not send your details to funders.
If you ever spot an outdated detail or a broken link, tell us and we will fix it. Program terms change often, and the official page is always the final word.
Your first 20 minutes on GrantSift
- Write one sentence about your project: what you will do, where, and roughly what it costs.
- Pick your country and region, then the sector that best describes the work.
- Scan eligibility first. Skip anything your organization type cannot apply to.
- Save three to five programs that fit closely, and open each official page.
- Note the deadlines and any registrations you will need, then add them to your calendar.
- Contact one program officer with a short, specific question.
That short routine turns a vague search into a working shortlist you can act on this week.
Come back each month, because new opportunities open and old ones close throughout the year. A regular check, even fifteen minutes, keeps your pipeline full and stops a good deadline from slipping past unnoticed.
